My passion for data analytics emerged during the final quarter of my bachelor's degree, sparking a journey to build a robust skill set in data analysis and visualization. While researching immigration policy impacts in San Diego County with Dr. Tom Wong, I witnessed firsthand how data analytics can shape legislation. Dr. Wong emphasized that quantitative research is a powerful tool for driving policy change—an insight that led me to complete the Data & Policy Certificate at the University of Chicago Harris Public Policy.
Recognizing how misrepresented data can lead to ineffective and costly policies, I sought to deepen my technical expertise. This drive led me to pursue an Associate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance my ability to communicate research findings to stakeholders through spatial analysis and mapping.
Currently, I am completing my Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM) at Heinz College, where I have gained advanced training in data analytics, GIS, and programming (R, Python). My goal is to apply these skills to real-world challenges in transnational issues, city planning, transportation, and emergency management.
I am eager to leverage my expertise in GIS, data analytics, and policy research to develop innovative, data-driven solutions that improve decision-making and create more resilient communities.
